Coincidence That People Who READ Good Books Are GOOD?
What is it about a good book? Joseph Addison wisely wrote, “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” Perhaps this is true. Let me share a story to illustrate m ancient wisdom y point.
Just the other day, I called in to a movie rental store with a question about a movie that was made from a book I had recently read. The young employee I spoke with on the phone was surprisingly different. He was kind and more than helpful. As I asked him about the movie, he knew it. I asked if he had read the book, to which he replied that he definitely had. “Is it a coincidence,” I thought to myself, “that he has read this book, and that he treats me this way?”
I do not believe it was a coincidence, and for this reason, the reading of good books is something that I strongly advocate.
